Salmons have the pink color of their flesh from a pigment identified as astaxanthin. Wild salmon get it through the krill and shrimp they take in, although farmed salmon receives traces of it in kibble (compound feed). Whenever they do not have the pigment, their flesh contains a grey shade.[2]Nonetheless, a similar will not be true for king crab.
